I feel that you can only give yourself fully to a few things within a single life time. Your work, your craft, your relationships, yourself… There’s only so much finite time within a life to commit to the things you choose. I want to live a million lifetimes so that I can give myself to everything I am drawn to. A lifetime to give to film making. A lifetime to give to studying and working in business. Lifetimes for crafting, mastering martial arts, learning horse-back riding, traveling, cooking, and taking risks. I always want to truly immerse myself in the things I do, or I don’t fully see the point in attempting them. 

 

With a million lifetimes, I could do this and master everything on this earth that I want to. But with my singular lifetime, I have committed myself to dance. I have dived head first into the art of dance and I can’t help but want more. Dance is beautiful, a challenge, full of knowledge and expression, and is the biggest part of who I am. I knew unwaveringly that I wanted to dance professionally when I was watching a company performance my freshman year of high school. I noticed the way I was sitting on the edge of my seat, full of emotion, fully engaged and inspired by the performance. I knew then that I wanted to be a part of the professional dance world, and have an effect on audiences and inspire young dancers as I had been that night. Performance is the ultimate expression of my love for dance, and is when I feel like the truest version of myself.

Collegiate dance and education has allowed me to immerse myself into the art at a level I did not have available to me previously. I have since been exposed to new aspects of dance and the arts while discovering so many things about myself as an artist. Learning dance history, finding my preferences as a viewer and creator, discovering my passions, exploring technology, researching, and stumbling upon new interests has proven to be a fun ride. I am thankful for my opportunity to attend The Ohio State University and receive my degree after four years. Now, I am facing the professional world head on and bringing all of my experiences with me. I know that the people and lessons backing me will help me towards a life I love, even if I only get this one.
